The missing step between cleansing and treatment we’ve been searching for– so we went and created it.
“Daily skin conditioning” isn’t yet a common skincare step. But at Lenox and Sixteenth, we believe it’s an important one in the pursuit of exceptional skin.
We created The Prep Pads Daily Skin Conditioning System to introduce a new kind of daily ritual: one that prepares the skin through gentle mechanical stimulation, lasting hydration, and barrier support—without relying on aggressive exfoliation or unnecessary disruption.
Because better skin doesn’t always require doing more to it. Sometimes, it starts with creating better conditions for it.
What is daily skin conditioning?
Think about the way we condition other things we want to perform at their best. Conditioning is about consistent care: maintaining, preparing, and supporting something so it can function optimally over time.
Skin conditioning applies that philosophy to your complexion.
At Lenox and Sixteenth, daily skin conditioning is a barrier-first approach to preparing the skin for the rest of your routine. It combines gentle physical stimulation with moisture-binding hydration and barrier support to leave skin awakened, replenished, and ready for what comes next.
“Think of skin conditioning like warming up before a workout. A warm-up prepares your body to perform at its best; skin conditioning does the same for your complexion—awakening, hydrating, and preparing the skin for the treatments that follow. It’s not the workout itself; it’s what helps set the stage for everything that comes next.”

Conditioning vs. exfoliating
Traditional exfoliating pads are designed to ‘remove’ from the skin’s surface, often through textured fibers, acids, or other chemical actives.
Skin conditioning takes a fundamentally different approach.
Rather than stripping away, it focuses on stimulating and replenishing. The goal is to awaken the complexion and improve the feel and appearance of the skin while maintaining comfort and respecting the barrier.
This barrier-first philosophy is at the heart of The Prep Pads.
Understanding the skincare technology
The Prep Pads use non-abrasive silicone technology. Soft silicone beads glide across the skin, providing sensorial activation while evenly distributing the formula—with minimal disruption to the skin barrier. You’ll notice your skin suddenly starts to feel ‘awake’.
The low-friction design makes The Prep Pads appropriate for consistent daily use, delivering the benefits of skin stimulation without the aggressive approach traditionally associated with resurfacing pads.
And the technology doesn’t stop at the surface.
24-hour hydration meets barrier-first skincare
Each Prep Pad is saturated with a moisture-binding complex designed to deliver long-lasting, 24-hour hydration.
Proven humectants—including saccharide isomerate, trehalose, urea, and serine—work alongside soothing beta-glucan and allantoin to replenish moisture and support skin comfort.
The formula also helps provide barrier repair in eight hours, making conditioning as much about supporting the skin as stimulating it.
The result is a unique pairing: surface engineering + skincare formulation.
Mechanical stimulation helps awaken and brighten the complexion, while the formula saturates the skin in conditioning hydration. Instead of choosing between activation and comfort, The Prep Pads were engineered to deliver both.
Two sides. Two functions. One conditioning ritual.
The Prep Pads feature a proprietary dual-sided mechanism designed to make conditioning intuitive.
The textured side features soft silicone beads that provide controlled mechanical stimulation. As they glide across the complexion, they help evenly distribute product and awaken the skin without abrasive friction.
The smooth side saturates the skin with conditioning hydration, allowing the moisture-binding formula to envelop the complexion and support the barrier.
Together, the two sides transform what might otherwise be a simple prep step into a complete daily skin conditioning system.
Why condition before you treat?
Skincare conversations tend to focus on what comes next: the serum, the active, the moisturizer, the procedure. But we believe how you prepare your skin matters, too.
Daily conditioning creates a deliberate moment between cleansing and treatment to awaken, hydrate, and support the complexion before applying the rest of your skincare.
Consider it the evolution of skin prep because at Lenox and Sixteenth, innovation means questioning the steps we’ve always taken—and engineering better ones.
