Commonly Asked Questions
THE LASER SERUM
Yes. You will love the way the Laser Serum fits seamlessly into your existing routine. We recommend using it on clean, dry skin in the evening. Follow the Laser Serum with your favorite moisturizer if you need an extra dose of hydration. Start by using it every other evening and avoid using other actives (like retinoids or scrubs) on the same evening that you use The Laser Serum.
You may feel a tingling sensation from the active acids in the formulation. This is normal and means that it’s working!
Breakouts during this time aren’t caused by the serum—they’re caused by what was already there. A way to know is by using the stretch test. As skin speeds up cell turnover, trapped oil, debris, and microcomedones are brought to the surface faster than usual.
We call it the purge. It’s temporary. It’s progress. Stick with it.
Breakouts aren’t always bad behavior, sometimes, they’re just proof of progress.
We encourage you to read this post in our journal that breaks down what to expect week by week.
Yes, this can happen—and it’s normal. Discoloration like melasma or sun damage lives beneath the skin’s surface. The Laser Serum brings it forward before it fades away. Pigment rises, then exfoliates off. Brightening is coming!
The 50 ml size should last about six weeks when used as directed.
Once opened, the product will remain effective for 12 months. Unopened, the product will remain effective for three years.
We always recommend that you wear SPF when using this product. The Laser Serum contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn.
All Lenox and Sixteenth products are clean, fragrance-free, and have been dermatologically tested to be suitable for all skin types. None of our current products contain retinol. If you are pregnant or nursing, we always recommend that you consult your doctor before use.
THE PRESERVATIONIST
Yes, the Preservationist is an incredible Vitamin C serum that fits beautifully into your existing routine. However, due to the hydrating, cream-like texture you may feel you no longer need to use a moisturizer. We love it as an all-in-one morning skincare step before adding SPF.
The unique cream-serum hybrid not only incorporates the power of a serum with the rich hydration of a cream but also delivers a visible instant glow that layers perfectly until other skincare or makeup.
The Preservationist features two highly stable and effective forms of Vitamin C:
- Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is an oil-soluble Vitamin C derivative that deeply penetrates the skin, helping to boost collagen production and brighten the complexion. Unlike traditional L-ascorbic acid, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is non-irritating and remains stable for longer, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
- Ascorbyl Glucoside is a water-soluble form of Vitamin C that gradually releases antioxidants, providing long-lasting protection against free radicals and environmental damage while promoting an even skin tone.
